In December, Japan celebrates several major events including Emperor’s Birthday on December 23rd and New Year’s Eve on December 31st. Emperor’s Birthday is a national holiday where the Japanese people celebrate the birthday of the current emperor, while New Year’s Eve is celebrated with fireworks, traditional food, and temple visits. Preschool learning environments could be created around these events by incorporating traditional Japanese decorations, such as origami and paper lanterns, into the classroom. Teachers could also introduce Japanese culture through storytelling and music, and encourage children to participate in traditional Japanese games and activities. Potential preschool lesson plan ideas could include teaching children about the Japanese language and basic phrases, introducing them to Japanese cuisine and encouraging them to try new foods, and exploring Japanese art and culture through hands-on activities such as calligraphy and painting. Teachers could also incorporate lessons on Japanese history and geography, and encourage children to learn about the different regions and landmarks of Japan
