In July, the United States celebrates Independence Day on the 4th, which commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Additionally, July is National Ice Cream Month, with National Ice Cream Day falling on the third Sunday of the month. Preschool learning environments could be created around these events by incorporating patriotic decorations and activities, such as making American flags or learning about the history of the United States. For National Ice Cream Month, teachers could set up a pretend ice cream shop in the classroom and have students practice counting and money skills while “selling” ice cream to their classmates. Potential preschool lesson plan ideas for Independence Day could include reading books about the founding of the United States, creating patriotic crafts, and learning about the American flag and its symbolism. For National Ice Cream Month, lesson plans could involve making homemade ice cream, learning about different flavors and toppings, and practicing sharing and taking turns while enjoying a sweet treat with classmates
