In May, Japan celebrates Golden Week, a series of national holidays that includes Showa Day, Constitution Memorial Day, Greenery Day, and Children’s Day. Additionally, May 5th is celebrated as Children’s Day, also known as Kodomo no Hi. Preschool learning environments could be created around the theme of Japanese culture and traditions during Golden Week and Children’s Day. This could include creating displays of traditional Japanese clothing, food, and toys, as well as incorporating Japanese music and dance into daily activities. Potential preschool lesson plan ideas could include teaching children about the significance of each holiday during Golden Week, as well as introducing them to Japanese language and writing. Children could also participate in traditional Japanese crafts, such as origami or making koinobori (carp-shaped windsocks) for Children’s Day. Additionally, lessons on Japanese food and culture could be incorporated into snack time and cooking activities
