In November, Canada celebrates Remembrance Day on November 11th to honor the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers in past wars. Additionally, the country celebrates National Child Day on November 20th to promote the rights and well-being of children. Preschool learning environments could be created around these events by incorporating activities that teach children about the importance of honoring and respecting those who have served in the military. For example, teachers could create a sensory bin filled with poppies and encourage children to create their own poppy crafts. Additionally, teachers could create a dramatic play area that resembles a war memorial where children can learn about the significance of Remembrance Day. Potential preschool lesson plan ideas could include reading books about Canadian soldiers and their sacrifices, creating poppy crafts, and learning about the different symbols associated with Remembrance Day. For National Child Day, lesson plans could include teaching children about their rights and encouraging them to express their opinions and ideas. Teachers could also incorporate activities that promote kindness and empathy towards others
